Teaching

Course for undergraduate: Introduction to atmospheric remote sensing

Students supervised

Before joining PKU, I have co-supervised several undergraduate/graduate students at Caltech and published papers with students as co-authors, including:

(1) Sihe Chen, graduate student at Caltech, research focuses on the impact of aerosol scattering on greenhouse gas retrievals from space, published papers include Zeng, Chen, et al. (2020) in RSE and Chen, Natraj, Zeng, et al. (2021) in JQSRT;

(2) Olivia Addington, undergraduate student at Caltech, research focuses on remote sensing of urban atmospheric compositions, published papers include Addington, Zeng, et al. (2021) in RSE and Zeng, Addington, et al. (2022) in JQSRT;

(3) Liyin He, graduate student at Caltech, research focuses on greenhouse gas emissions in the Los Angeles megacity, published paper includes He, Zeng, et al. (2020) in GRL.

Research Interests

Dr. Zeng’s research interests relate to the development of theories and algorithms in two fundamental areas of remote sensing: (1) radiative transfer and (2) inverse modeling/retrieval. Radiative transfer characterizes the propagation of light in a turbid medium that consists of absorption and scattering by gas molecules and particulates, and its interactions with a lower boundary such as a land surface or an ocean system. Inverse modeling is to develop robust algorithms to retrieve medium properties from observed atmospheric radiation.
